When did you first start singing at karaoke?
2 years old on grandma’s 8-track karaoke machine. I was sure every family had one of these things!
What is the best part about hosting karaoke?
I love when the shy kid or adult gets up to sing – that person who has never sung before – and after their song you just see them glowing with confidence!
If you could sing karaoke with any celebrity who would it be and what song would you do?
Steve Perry from Journey… definitely singing “Separate Ways”
Favorite karaoke moment while hosting?
Once a party starts I like to go around and introduce myself to as many people as possible so that they feel more comfortable singing. I met this man who told me he had never done karaoke but he loved to sing. I asked him to sing a duet with me and afterward several people from his family told me that he is autistic and he’s never gotten up in front of a crowd. I felt so honored to make him feel that comfortable to sing to all of his family and people he didn’t even know.

When did you first start singing at karaoke?
I was 12 years old… at a local spring fair and there was a karaoke booth. I even got a souvenir VHS of the performance!
What is the best part about hosting karaoke?
I love seeing people sing who are totally into the performance aspect of the song. They have so much fun and I can tell they just love to sing. The crowd really responds to singers who get lost in the moment. When everyone in the bar is rocking along with a singer, that’s a great night!
If you could sing karaoke with any celebrity who would it be and what song would you do?
Gotta be James Corden for some Carpool Karaoke! I think he’s a great singer and so funny - plus he’s sung with some of the best. I feel like we would be rocking out some “Hot in Herre” by Nelly as a tribute to my hometown.
Favorite karaoke moment while hosting?
Its gotta be when these two guys got up who seemed pretty shy. They sang “Roses” by Outkast which is actually a pretty challenging song and they just knocked it out of the park. The whole bar was singing along with them. They were just amazing. I love it when people surprise you like that and rock it out!
Karaoke go to?
It’s usually a Lady Gaga (maybe “Million Reasons”) or Adele, but I also rock some “Me and Bobby McGee” by Janis Joplin.
